Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding or IFGTB was established in 1988 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Environment & Forests. It operates under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education. It conduct research activities on national level. It is located at Coimbatore. Its activities are based on the subjects of genetics and tree breeding of important forest species.
